Things We Read – June 2020

Back in 2019, we started an email string with our staff to share links to books, articles and videos around professional advice and leadership. amala-sa.com burger10.com.au We decided to bring it back in our first new monthly instalment of, ‘Things we read.’ alexandrini.adv.br

This week we speak to members of our Client Services team, who share with us articles discussing the awareness of ‘being kind’ and talking about our mental health. Books about what it takes to get back up again, and how owning our stories of disappointment, failure, and heartbreak can give us the power to write a daring new ending. And finally, a dystopian novel that touches on current relevant topics of isolation and the role of authority.

The awareness of “being kind” – https://abcomm.co.uk/abthinks/the-power-of-kindness/

“My girlfriend wrote this article during mental health awareness week. And with the current circumstances, this week was highlighted in the media more than ever. I am, of course, bias, but I found reading it very uplifting and helpful to know others might be struggling at the moment and the ways, we can help one another.”

Rising Strong by Brene Brown – https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00P8K04JE/

“A great book to shift your current thought processes, reframe failure and understand our call to courage through being vulnerable. Brene is a fantastic and relatable author.”

Wool by Hugh Howey – https://www.amazon.co.uk/Wool-Trilogy-Book-1-ebook/dp/B00873GRU4/

“My recommendation is a dystopian novel Wool by Hugh Howey. It’s a collection of three short science fiction stories which make the first in a three-part saga. The saga touches on several relevant topics, including isolation and the role of authority.”
